The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors’ New York chapter (NAIFA-New York) and the Life Insurance Council of New York, Inc. (LICONY) will collaborate in 2021 and beyond on issues that are important to agents and advisors, the industry, and the consumers they serve.

Both NAIFA and LICONY have rich political advocacy histories and are well-positioned to work with legislators and regulators to serve the interests of the industry and consumers. The groups are confident that coordinating on initiatives will make them even more effective.

“This partnership solidifies a commitment to working together on communications and grassroots activities,” said Corey Mathews, Executive Director of NAIFA-New York. “Together, NAIFA-New York and LICONY will review legislative and regulatory priorities and identify areas where the two can effectively partner.”

“I’m delighted to see a renewed and rejuvenated relationship between NAIFA and LICONY,” stated Robert Miller, spokesperson for the NAIFA-New York transition team that will oversee the formation of the board of directors and outline its future legislative agenda. “Now more than ever, the collaborative efforts of organizations working together to protect our industry is needed. NAIFA-New York’s ability to work with like-minded groups to take on what we presume to be a disrupted political and regulatory landscape will be the key factor in determining the impact of our advocacy work.”

“LICONY is pleased to work with our life insurance producer association partners, such as NAIFA-New York, in our joint efforts to ensure a more efficient, productive business environment that will facilitate our service to New York families and businesses,” said Mary Griffin, CEO & President of LICONY.

NAIFA has continuously had an active chapter in the state of New York since 1919 to represent financial services professionals. The chapter provides professional development, support and political advocacy for NAIFA members in communities across the state. NAIFA is the leading and most influential association for insurance and financial professionals in the United States, with active chapters in every state.

LICONY is the trade association representing the life insurance industry doing business in New York State. LICONY’s 60 domestic and 21 nondomestic member companies together provide the vast majority of life, disability income, long-term care insurance and annuity benefits for New Yorkers.
